Ealing Plumber on how to unblock a toilet

September 12th, 2011 by

Have you ever experienced a blocked toilet in your home.

It can be quite an unpleasant experience, especially if it’s your only toilet.

We are Emergency Plumbing & Drains and are based locally in Ealing W5. We cover all of West London including Ealing Broadway, Northfields, West Ealing and surrounding areas

The first thing to do when you have a blocked toilet is to go to your local plumbers merchant or DIY shop and purchase a 6 inch disc plunger. Unlike the usual sink plunger these are made for unblocking toilets.

They have a flat disc on the end of a long pole and are ideal for unblocking the toilet.

Once you have your toilet plunger you should insert it into the toilet bowl and push it firmly into the waste outlet of the pan. Then using an up and down motion move the plunger to create a suction into the waste pipe.

Ensure that the toilet bowl is still full of water before you begin as this will help create a suction. The movement of the toilet plunger will move the blockage backwards and forwards under the pressure of the water until it breaks up and flushes away.

Unblocking a toilet can be a messy smelly experience so if you have a weak stomach or dont fancy the job then give us a call and let us unblock your toilet for you.

Also if the toilet plunger doesn’t work or you have leaks from the rear of the toilet while plunging then give us a call and let us solve your plumbing problems.

Based in Ealing we can be with you within an hour.
